Works on paper

Processes in nature… growth, decay, the continuum of change over time and the patterns of these cycles influence my creative practice. For me, drawing is a means of observing and recording these processes. A reoccurring theme running through much of the work is an investigation of the innate order that lies beneath the seemingly chaotic forces of life and the universe. I’m compelled to continually examine nature’s intrinsic ability to produce pattern. Since childhood, drawing has been a tool for me to draw attention to and to honor nature.

Drawing Series
Over 40 drawings done over a period of 10 years, of different remembered dances and movements taught to me by other woman living in the Bay area. The series represents patterns of movement and dances from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds, from an Israeli dance called “Bringing water from the well,” to an American rock n’ roll.
